Past Events
19th Annual Three Rivers Adaptive Sports Water Ski Clinic
Forty-three participants with various disabilities ventured out onto the waters of Conneaut Lake between July 20th and 23rd. For the third year, the Iroquois Boating and Fishing club hosted the clinic and continued to provide outstanding hospitality and food. Everyone enjoys this fantastic facility! The clinic was featured on Erie television both on WICU and WJET. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette printed a great article and a wonderful photograph. The weather did not cooperate but it never dampened the spirit of our volunteers and the determination of our skiers. New skis and skilled volunteers contributed to the amazing success of our stand up skiers. Also impressive were the accomplishments of many of the Kan-skiers who progressed from outriggers with the rope in the block to no outriggers with the rope in their hands. We also made a special effort this year to include families and friends in out lunchtime and evening activities! As always we thank our many volunteers for so many tireless hours and all of our sponsors for their continued dedication to our program.
Allegheny River Rumble
Thanks to the Golden Triangle Water Ski Club (GTWC) for the wonderful day of skiing at their Nine Mile Island paradise on the Allegheny River. All the TRAS skiers, family members and volunteers, want to express a heartfelt thanks to the GTWC members, who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Everything from the pontoon boat shuttle, to the skiing, and the great picnic lunch, was first rate. The skiing was fantastic and you could tell by the skiers’ faces, that each and every one had a great time! This year the weather couldn’t have been better and was just icing on the cake for a fantastic day on the river. Special thanks go to the GTWC’s Bob and Sherrel Hughes who coordinated the great day on the Allegheny River.
Chuck Scally Memorial Open for Golfers with Disabilities
TRAS and the HOPE Network co-sponsored the 17th Annual Chuck Scally Memorial Open at Fox Run Golf Course in Beaver Falls, PA on August 10, 2009. Thirty-five golfers in 9 teams participated in the tournament. For the first time in the tournament's history all 9 teams completed the scramble format tournament with scores below par!! The first place team scored an impressive 8 under par 64. Due to a scoring miscalculation, this year’s tournament had # 1 and #1-A finishers who ultimately received First Place trophies. The #1-A winner was decided by a tie-breaker. The #1-A and #2 teams finished the par 72 Fox Run Course with scores of 66. The 3rd place team finished with a score of 68.
1st Place- Dan Barry, Pat Corr, Darius Carlins, and Chuck Rock
#1-A- Bob Pilewski, Neil Isenburg and Howard Mumau
2nd Place- Jim Studebaker, John Tirpak, Bob Glorioso, and Tom Guidas
3rd Place- John Gority, Bill Martin, John Munsick, and Bill Bekavak
Thanks to all the golfers, volunteers, prize donors and hole sponsors for making the 17th edition of the Chuck Scally Memorial Open a huge success. Thanks also to Max and Bill Mesing of Fox Run Golf Course for hosting the event for 17 years running. Special thanks go to Claire Scally and the Scally Family for their continued support of this event and to Marc Kowatic of Hanger O & P for once again sponsoring the awards dinner for the golfers and volunteers at Fox Run following the tournament.
